Alpujarrena is a mostly Indica strain with roots in the Alpujarra region on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada near Granada. The genetics have been cultivated over a long period under the particular conditions of this Spanish mountain region and are therefore adapted to significant temperature variations and more challenging environmental conditions. At the same time, Alpujarrena has an unusually sweet aroma profile that clearly stands out from the classic Indica direction.

When grown, Alpujarrena develops a vigorous, robust and relatively straightforward plant structure. Thanks to its origins in a mountainous region where cannabis is also cultivated at altitudes above 1,000 metres, the genetics cope comparatively well with changing conditions and lower temperatures.
