Amnesia Original

Amnesia Original is one of the most famous and legendary cannabis genetics to emerge from the Netherlands. Originally released by Hy-Pro in the 1990s, this exceptional strain became a true classic and has influenced countless Amnesia and Haze varieties that followed. Its genetic background combines an extremely powerful old-school Sativa – possibly a special Neville's Haze selection – with an exceptional Indica, creating the unmistakable character for which the original Amnesia became famous.

Despite its legendary reputation, Amnesia is comparatively straightforward to cultivate and can also be handled by growers with less experience. It is particularly well suited to indoor cultivation, while outdoors it requires a warmer climate and enough time to fully mature. In a greenhouse with good ventilation, Amnesia can develop into impressively large and vigorous plants.

One of the most distinctive characteristics of Amnesia is its extraordinary aroma. Intense, complex and unmistakable, it has helped make this genetic one of the best-known Dutch cannabis classics. Many breeders later introduced their own versions under the name “Amnesia Haze”, while the original Hy-Pro packaging was simply labelled “Amnesia”.

The regular seeds are particularly special because they originate from the original Hy-Pro production and have become extremely rare. Hy-Pro was renamed Super Strains in 2013, which explains why the regular seeds can still appear under the historic Hy-Pro label while the feminized version is offered under Super Strains. Both versions are based on the same original Amnesia genetic, but the regular seeds can produce both male and female plants, making them especially interesting for breeding projects and the selection of exceptional keeper plants.

• Super Strains: the breeder behind Amnesia

Super Strains is the group that first brought out the legendary Amnesia, which is still one of the most talked about strains out there. The company is based in the Netherlands and has been around long enough that most growers have heard of them. Their catalog is not huge, but that is fine. It keeps the focus on a few lines that actually work. You see names like Enemy of the State, 7th Wave, and El Cucaracha sitting next to Amnesia.
